Obituary

Ada Alger passed away peacefully at the Central Vermont Medical Center at the age of 101, on April 3, 2024. Born on October 29, 1922, in North Duxbury, Vermont, Ada was the daughter of the late Harold and Ila (Russell) Lewis. She was preceded in death by her siblings Lyle Lewis, Rita Wood, Gerald Lewis, Arlene Stafford, Arland Lewis, Carlyle Lewis Merle Lewis and Lorraine Towne.

On July 19, 1943, Ada embarked on a lifelong journey with her beloved husband Russell, sharing adventures across the globe as he served in the army. With their family, they experienced the richness of different cultures, forging memories that would last a lifetime.

After her travels, Ada found her calling in the field of mental health, obtaining certification as a psychiatric technician. For 15 years, she dedicated herself to service at the State Hospital in Waterbury, Vermont, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

Outside of her work, Ada enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader, relished the challenge of crossword puzzles and the satisfaction of completing intricate jigsaw puzzles. She had quite the green thumb and enjoyed gardening. Ada was also an active member of the Middlesex United Methodist Church.

Ada's greatest legacy lies in the love she shared with her family. She is survived by her three children, Steven Alger, Nancy Russell, and Denise Jacobs, and their families. Ada also leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Ada Alger built a family legacy of strength, resilience, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched as she joins those loved ones already in heaven.

Callin hours will be held at Perkins Parker Funeral Home, 48 South Main Street in Waterbury Vermont on April 19 from 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Waterbury on April 20 at 11 am with burial at Hope Cemetery in Waterbury.
