Alan M.
Bouffard
Apr 2, 1962 — Jun 18, 2025
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Alan Michael Bouffard on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Alan leaves behind his beloved wife of 42 years, Priscilla Bouffard, his children, Katie Bouffard, Joshua Bouffard, Micaela Bouffard-Commo, and Justin Bouffard, to whom he dedicated his life, as well as his daughter Amelia Byors, whom he raised as his own after accepting guardianship of her at a young age. He leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Alanna Bouffard, and son-in-law Ronald Commo III, whom he gladly welcomed into his family. Alan regrettably leaves behind his three grandsons, Isaac Bouffard, Ethan Bouffard, Tucker Commo, and his granddaughter Isabella Commo. He adored his grandchildren immensely and wishes them a lifetime of happiness from above. Lastly, he leaves behind his father Charles Bouffard, and sister, Susan Bouffard to join his predeceased mother Lillian Bouffard and siblings Charlene Maille, David Bouffard, and Janet Bouffard in heaven, where they can be reunited as a family for eternity.
Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, Alan enjoyed playing outside and causing mischief with his brother David. The family moved to Winooski, Vermont when he was in the seventh grade. Alan attended Rice Memorial High School, participating in track & field, and found an interest in history, woodworking and mechanics. While in high school, Alan met the love of his life Priscilla Maille. Upon graduating, he asked for her hand in marriage with plans to follow in his father's footsteps by joining the military.
Alan was a humble and honorable man, completing over 40 years of service to our country as a Green Mountain Boy with the Vermont Air National Guard. He earned an Associate's Degree in Applied Science, Aircraft Systems Maintenance Technology, and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant of the 158th Fighter Wing. During his service, Alan had received several accolades for his leadership on base and during deployments to the Middle East. His attention to detail saved the life of a pilot after discovering faulty equipment that compromised the integrity of the aircraft. Throughout his career, Alan was paramount to the efficiency of the flight line and transformed the aerospace ground equipment (A.G.E) shop, gaining the respect of every crewman he worked with. The only thing more admirable than his career in the military was his dedication to his family. Alan was a loving father and spouse, always prioritizing the needs of his family. His participation in his children's lives was unparalleled, dedicating several years of coaching soccer in the fall, being on the pool deck as a swim parent in the winter, coaching t-ball and little league in the spring, and serving as a swim official every summer.
In his limited spare time, Alan had a talent for carpentry, ranging from handcrafting fireplaces to building decks. He also enjoyed landscaping and creating beautiful flowerbeds. Through his military career, Alan became well-versed in military history and volunteered at the Air National Guard museum for the preservation of aircraft, taking a special interest in the B-57. Alan also enjoyed target shooting with his children and son-in-law, being in nature, and camping at Lake Carmi. He also loved being on the water, learning to maneuver a sailboat, then later switching to a pontoon boat as his family grew. Once retired from the military, Alan focused on being a dedicated grandfather, spending all his energy keeping up with the grandchildren and loving every moment spent with them.
Though Alan is no longer here, his memory, heart, and spirit will live on through the numerous family members and friends he leaves behind. He was always willing to give his time to anyone in need and positively impacted countless lives. Dad, we will never be okay without you, but you have given us the tools and strength to persevere in your absence and overcome the struggles we may encounter in the future. Thank you for everything you have done and the sacrifices you made to provide a beautiful life for your family…we are forever grateful.
