Armand Michael
Aube
Jan 22, 1945 — Feb 21, 2024
Armand Michael Aube Sr., 79, of Colchester, Vermont, passed away on February 21, 2024, at the McClure Miller Respite house with his beloved wife by his side.
He was born on January 22, 1945, at Mary Fletcher Allen Hospital. Armand grew up in the North End of Burlington, raised by his father Leo N. Aube, and his mother Isabelle M. Aube.
Armand enlisted in the Vermont Army National Guard in 1962 at the age of 18, working in various roles during his 24 years of service, retiring in January of 2005. He served his Country during Desert Storm and was a proud veteran. During his years of service, Armand worked as a volunteer for the Malletts Bay Fire Department for many years, and was also a truck driver, construction worker, and performed other miscellaneous jobs. In Armand's younger years, he raced stock cars at the Catamount race track which he took great joy in. This fueled his love for NASCAR. His favorite driver(s) were Dale Earnhart Sr. and Dale Earnhart Jr. He would make trips over to the Loudon New Hampshire Speedway to watch races or watch the race from his recliner at home.
Armand met his lifelong partner 37 years ago, Barbara I. Benjamin where they were married for 30 wonderful years and resided in Colchester. Armand loved camping, and traveling all over the East Coast with his wife Barb and grandson Tyler. He looked forward to camping season, the places he would go, and the people he would see. It would be what he spoke about all winter long until springtime came. Armand took pride in his family, always fond of spending time and making memories with them. Spending time with his two grandsons, watching them grow up, and being a proud Poppy as they achieved different milestones in their lives. He rooted for the Sanfransico 49ers and the Boston Red Sox.
After retirement, Armand and Barb worked part-time hauling campers for Travel Rite RV Rentals. With the free time he had, he found the most enjoyment in camping and working around the house.
Armand leaves behind his wife, Barb; his sons, Kevin Aube (Lynn) and Jason Aube (Kaye); his three stepchildren; Jerry (Michele), Stacy (Jason), and Trish Benjamin. He also leaves behind his grandson Cody Bushway and his wife Jordan, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and many dear friends that he cherished throughout his 79 years of life. He was predeceased by his parents Leo and Isabelle, and his two brothers Richard and Leo Jr. Aube. His Grandson Tyler Benjamin.
There will be no visiting hours. There will be a graveside service with full military honors on Monday, February 26th at 1:00 pm at the Lake View Cemetery, North Ave., Burlington. Family and friends are welcome to attend the service.
