Barbara Jean Rolland (Castle), of Barre Town, Vermont, age 76, died June5, 2024, with family by her side, at the University of Vermont Medical Center, Burlington, Vermont, after a prolonged illness. She was born, June 28, 1947, in Rochester, NY, daughter of Lois Rhem (Castle-Garrett) and Earl Castle of Waterloo, NY. She graduated from Clifton Springs (NY) high school and attended Binghamton College before marrying her high school sweetheart. Over the years, she worked in various secretarial positions, living in New York, Connecticut, and Vermont.

Barbara was most passionate about people. She loved her family and was a committed mother and homemaker. She enjoyed family events and socializing with friends – she always had a few minutes to visit. Throughout her life, Barbara helped others, volunteering in the community. A dedicated member of the Seventh-day Adventist church, she held positions as church clerk, children's Sabbath school teacher, children's Adventurer leader, deaconess and food pantry coordinator. Barbara also enjoyed flower arranging, cooking, traveling, Drum & Bugle Corp, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles.

Barbara is lovingly remembered by her son, Chadd (wife Erika) and grandchildren (Benjamin, Zachary, Jonathan, Anneliese) of Edinboro, PA; son, Ty (wife Nancy) and grandchildren (Kelsey, Kilee, Joshua) of East Montpelier, VT; daughter, Heather Brown of Loma Linda, CA; daughter, Erinn Rolland-Forkey (husband Mark) and grandchildren (Alisha, Levi, Carter) of Waterbury, VT; mother, Lois Rehm (Castle-Garret), CA; brother, John, CA; sister-in-law, Carol Castle, CO; sister-in-law, Carol Castle, FL; brother-in-law, Roy Rolland (wife Kay), NY; sister-in-law, Marilyn Holtham (Rolland), NC; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Rolland, FL; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Thomas; father, Earl, NY; brother, Gary, AL; brother-in-law, William, NY; and nephew, Heath Castle, CO.

Barbara is buried beside her husband in Green Mountain Cemetery, Montpelier, VT. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Sunday, July 7, 2:00 pm (with calling hours at 1:00 pm), at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home, 48 South Main Street, Waterbury, VT, 05676.
