Obituary

Carol Kellogg Lavoie, 97, of Essex Junction, passed away on March 23rd, 2026, in Essex, Vermont.

Carol was born in Burlington, Vermont to Clement Kellogg and Hortence Carpentier Kellogg on October 23rd, 1928. She attended school in Saint Albans and Richmond, Vermont before graduating from the University of Vermont with a degree in Business Education in 1950. Carol married Henry Joseph Lavoie, Jr., on December 26th, 1953, and they made their home in Essex Junction. Carol taught Business Education at Essex Junction High School for many years. She was proud to teach business skills to a generation of students and assisted in the implementation of the school's first word processing system. Carol's life centered around her family, including her seven children, all of whom worked at Henry's Public Market, the family business, where she also did the bookkeeping. She enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers Beach, Florida and she was an avid knitter and reader.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband Henry in 1998 and her sister Joyce Kellogg Palmer.

Carol is survived by her son Robert and his wife Callie Lavoie of Wells, Maine; her son John and his wife Melanie of Sacramento, California and their daughters Caitlin Bishop and Anna Lavoie; her son Mark and his wife Lois of Leesburg, Florida and their children Nicole Russell and Joseph Lavoie; her son James and his wife Jennifer Lavoie of South Hero, Vermont and their daughters Sydney and Avery Lavoie; her daughter Mary and her husband Robert Reardon of Essex, Vermont and their children Jeffrey and Amanda Reardon; her daughter Lynn Waples of Franklin, Massachusetts and her daughters Katharine and Caroline Waples; and her daughter Janet and her husband Robert Hall of Manchester, New Hampshire. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Audrey and Elise Russell, Poppy and Otis Bishop, and Henry Lavoie. She is also survived by her brother David Kellogg of Colchester, Connecticut and her beloved sister Joan Bombard of South Burlington, Vermont as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carol's family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the kind staff of Mansfield Place Memory Care and UVM Home Health & Hospice Services.

Visiting Hours will be held on March 30th, 2026, at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction, Vermont. Visiting hours will commence at 2pm with a service at 3:30 pm. Burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery in Essex Junction, Vermont at a later date.
