Charles R. "Ricky" Champney – 48, of Bolton, passed away in the comfort of his family at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Friday evening, May 17, 2013. Born in Burlington on August 15, 1964, he was the son of the late Walter Champney Sr. and Ellen (Anderson) Champney. Ricky attended Mount Mansfield Union High School and then spent his career as an auto body repairman for several body shops in the central Vermont area before operating his own repair shop. In his leisure time he enjoyed racing stock cars, snowmobiling, spending time in the outdoors and working on automobiles. Ricky is survived by 2 sons, Charles "Nic" Champney of St. Albans and Walter "Josh" Champney III of Bolton; 5 grandchildren; 3 brothers, David Champney and his wife, Marlene of Lynchburg VA, Thomas Champney of Bolton and Walter Champney, Jr. and his wife, Sherry of Front Royal VA; a sister, Tina Atwood and her husband, Mark of Bolton; his former wife, Betty Champney of Waterbury; his canine companion "Butters"; as well as nieces, nephews and extended family. Friends may call at the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 6 – 7 p.m. with a memorial service to follow.
