It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Cherie passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born on January 30, 1956, in Rockville CT, to her mother Jeanne Marie Monette (Leclerc) and her father Philip Joseph Monette.
In 1962 her family of six moved back to Vermont where Cherie attended St Francis Xavier Elementary School and graduated from Winooski High School class of 1975, where she had so many friends and was always at the center of her social groups.
Cherie was a beloved wife and mother, she is survived by her husband Robert (Ben) Benoit, her childhood sweetheart, they married on January 30,1976, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories with their three children, Angela, Joshua and Justin, and her adored grandson, Cameron, son of Angela. She also leaves behind her brother, Andre Monette and his wife Margaret, her sisters, Sharon Sweeney, Sheila Perrotte and her husband Tim, her youngest brother John and his wife Kerri. In addition, many nephews and a beautiful niece, as well as Robert's many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews.
Cherie will be remembered for her boundless love for her family and friends, her huge heart, always putting others before herself and welcoming anyone to her home, her spit fire personality, and her love for cooking a family meal for us to gather around the table, and her love for working around in her gardens.
A celebration of Cherie's life will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Saint Francis Xavier Church at 1:00 pm, Winooski VT, followed by a Christian burial at the Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery (behind the church). A reception to follow will be held at the VFW in Winooski on Main Street.
Rest in peace to a wonderful woman and a beautiful wife and loving mother. You will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Your kindness will continue to shine in our hearts.
