Obituary

It is with profound sadness and appreciation for a life well lived that we inform you of the peaceful passing of Cynthia Finehout Tremblay; Mom, Nana, Nana Great and Warrior Spirit on December 22, 2023.

Cynthia was born the youngest of three children and only daughter of Reverend Raymond E. Finehout, and Dorothy Naylor Finehout in Flushing, NY on January 21st, 1938.

She grew up in Swanton, Vermont and was a premier women's high school and AAU basketball player. Her senior year in high school she averaged 33 points a game, twice scoring over 50 points. In the 60's and early 70's while in Springfield, VT she coached women's basketball and softball, and she was an accomplished bowler. Later in life, she found great joy in golfing with family and many friends and even recorded a hole-in-one at Blush Hill Country Club, in Waterbury, VT.

She married Adrian "Babe" Tremblay on August 28, 1958. Together they had a family that included six children.

After Babe's retirement in 1974, Cyndie was one of the first in her friend group to enter the full-time work force. She worked her way from an administrative assistant to a managing engineer with Contel Telephone Company. She retired in 1991 to care for Babe in his final years. She was a volunteer for Hospice shortly after Babe's passing; reading to, praying with, and holding hands with hospice patients in their final days.

She is survived by her children, Annie Baskin of Cornelius, NC, Cynthia (Scott) Gerlach of Ponte Vedra, FL, Thomas (Cathy) Tremblay of Fort Myers, FL, Katherine Tremblay of Montpelier, VT, and Robert (Heidi) Tremblay of Seneca, SC. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, her mother and father, brothers Arthur (Teresa) Finehout and Raymond L. Finehout, daughter Jean (Carl) Sawin, and mom's dear friend Elizabeth "Bootsie" McNally.

She will be remembered for her kindness, positive attitude, and devotion to her family. She will always be in our hearts and continue to be a guiding light in our lives. "We are blessed." A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on May 25, 2024 at Calvary Episcopal Church, 370 VT Route 15, Underhill VT with inurnment to follow at Jericho Corners Cemetery, 80 VT Route 15, Jericho, VT.

The family is thankful for the excellent care that mom received from the staff of Community Hospice Service. Their kind, calm, and competent approach ensured mom's transition was peaceful and allowed all of us to focus on loving, comforting, and reassuring mom in her final days.
