David Walter
Lamountain
Oct 18, 1955 — Jun 11, 2024
David Walter LaMountain left this life on June 11th 2024 after his brave fight with cancer. He
was watched over by his devoted family as he moved on too soon.
Born in Burlington, Vermont on October 18th 1955 to Walter and Muguette (Tougas)
LaMountain, David was a loyal and precious part of anyone's life he touched. While private and
humble, he was fun-loving and easy-going once he opened up to you. Perfectly content reading
a book at the beach, or chatting with friends at the Eagles Club, Dave was always sharing his
intelligent wit and sharp humor.
After graduating Burlington High School in 1973, David proudly served his country as a Combat
Engineer in the United States Army. The friendships built through basic training and deployment
overseas created brothers for a lifetime. Upon returning to civilian life, David began his career
with the City of Burlington, in the Moran Plant, followed by the McNeil Plant Generating stations. His long
tenure providing electricity to the greater Burlington area gave him great pride.
As the oldest child, and only brother to four little sisters, David's family was his world. Nobody
messed with those girls- and he let them all dress his beautiful long hair for hours. He learned
his love of the backyard barbeque and flavorful kitchen creations from his mother and father.
The home was always filled with great smells and precious memories. Aunts, Uncles, Cousins
and family friends were always in attendance.
Love found David with Josie (McGettrick), in their marriage in 1980. Their bond created Jessica,
his pride and best friend. With years of beach days, camping trips, cribbage or just sitting and
reading novels as a family, they had happiness. Although this union was not forever, and each
parted to grow individually, all three were reunited in the final years of David's life, for wonderful
memories to be built again.
David is predeceased by his parents Walter and Muguette, loving companion Sue, and his dear
sister Rita. His brave nephew Deven Goss was taken too soon, as was his lifelong friend Dan
Munier. His ex wife Josie was waiting to meet him again there too.
He is survived and kept in close memory by his sister and brother in law Darlene and Lenny
Gauthier, sister and brother in law Mary and Lou Edwards, sister Anna LaMountain and
daughter and son in law Jessica and Sean Seals. Nephews Lou and Marc, as well as nieces
Morgan, and Lindsay will miss him dearly. His grandnieces remember him with happiness.
A brick memorial to David has been placed on the center of Church St in Burlington, the city he
loved. It can be found just outside Ken's Pizza, one of his very favorite hangouts. His earthly
remains were returned to the Vermont nature he always felt such peace in; by his cherished
sisters and daughter.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in David's name, please consider the March of Dimes and
the Cancer Research Institute.
