Diane Jones Severance, 83, of Waterbury, Vermont, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026. Born Diane Marie Jones on July 28, 1943, in Lubec, Maine, she was the daughter of Cecil and Virginia Jones. On July 27, 1963, she married Leland “Eddie” Severance of Waterbury, and together they built a life and family over 63 years of marriage.

A quiet caretaker with a generous heart, Diane found joy and wonder in the natural world. She was drawn to water, especially the ocean, and loved spending time on Lake Champlain. In the warmer months, she could be found nurturing her gardens and flowers.

Diane was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Jean Jones Lamarre. She is survived by her husband, Leland; her daughter, Jean-Marie Severance, and son-in-law, Jim Garner; her son, Robert Severance, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Severance; and her beloved grandchildren, Taylor Garner, Thomas Severance, and Renee Severance.

The family is deeply grateful to the staff and volunteers of McClure Miller Respite House for their kindness, compassion, and care, and for helping bring moments of joy and laughter to a difficult time.
