Donald R. Tisdale, longtime resident of Northfield, VT, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in Berlin, VT.

He was born and raised in Rhode Island, the son of Henry and Isabelle Tisdale, and moved to Vermont after serving in the Army, following his parents who moved up to Northfield just before his tour.

Donald was always working with his hands, and his craft can be felt in the many leatherworks, woodworks, and mechanics that he built, salvaged, fixed, and repurposed throughout his life.

He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Betty; his sister, Muriel; and his sons, Patrick and his wife Brenda, Brian and his wife Sharon, and Randy and his wife Kelly. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Michael, Katie and her husband Andrew, Seth and his wife Nicole, and Grace; his great-grandchildren, Luke, Noah, and Caelum; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Avis; his nephew, Greg; and his great-grandchild, Harlow.

A private graveside service will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
