Elizabeth Ann Laughlin (Betty) was born on July 2, 1937, to parents Charles C. Spear and Mary (Kingston) Spear.

Betty married Robert S. Laughlin in 1956 and moved to Baltimore, Maryland, for 12 years. Betty was a mom and Scout leader for many years with dear friend and neighbor Ethel White.

The family returned to Northfield permanently in 1969. Betty worked for 25 years at Vermont National Bank in Montpelier, where she made many long-lasting friendships.

In recent years, Betty enjoyed car rides, family outings, and visiting with friends, one being long-time friend Bette Lou.

Betty is predeceased by her husband Bob and siblings Charles, Madeline, Bill, Mildred, and Peggy.

She is survived by her three children, Carole Washburn, Kathleen, and her husband, Michael Bailey; Robert and his wife Kathryn; devoted cousin Anne and six dearly loved grandchildren: Garrett, Sara and husband Matt, Hallie and husband Jason, Troy and wife Emma, Kyle and wife Kaley, Elizabeth and fiance Nick, as well as her great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive Betty.
