Frederick "Peter"
Brynn
Jul 20, 1937 — May 28, 2025
Fred Peter Brynn, 87, of Burlington, Vermont
Fred Peter Brynn, known lovingly as Peter, passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Born in Montpelier,
Vermont, and later moved to Burlington, Vermont. He was the beloved son of Frederick and Marie
Brynn.
Peter attended Cathedral High School, before proudly serving in the United States Army. In 1962, he
began his professional career at National Life in Burlington, where he served with dedication for 62
years.
A member of the Burlington Country Club since 1962, Peter valued the friendships, tradition, and
camaraderie he found there for more than six decades.
His Catholic faith was the foundation of his life. As a dedicated member of Christ the King Church, Peter
was deeply involved in parish life, generously supporting church fundraisers and outreach programs. His quiet yet steadfast devotion was a model of grace and humility.
Peter was first and foremost a family man. He took great joy in large family celebrations—Thanksgiving
dinners, weddings, and reunions—cherished events that strengthened the family bond and created lasting traditions.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ann (Sue) Calcagni Brynn; his sisters Susie Peterson
and Nancy Fitzgerald; and his four children:
• Monica Marshall , and her husband David Marshall
• Fred Brynn, Suzette Brynn
• Jeff Brynn and his wife Charlotte Brynn
• Stephen Brynn and his wife Rachel Brynn
He was a devoted grandfather to:
• Alexander Brynn (and his wife Maddie )
• Soeren Brynn
• Kipper Marshall
• Heidi Brynn
• Gabriella Brynn
• Frederick Marshall
• Hannah Marshall
• Beck Brynn and Sawyer Brynn
Peter was predeceased by his sisters Mary Jane Molthan and Sally Hogan.
Peter Brynn was an exemplary father, brother, husband, grandfather, and friend. He led by example,
living a life grounded in empathy, integrity, kindness, and generosity. His belief in the importance of
caring for others was evident in all he did. His legacy will continue to shine through his grandchildren and the generations to come.
The Brynn family extends heartfelt thanks to the team at UVM Hospice, Doctor Landry for his attentive
and compassionate care; the Diocese of the Roman Catholic Church for a lifetime of spiritual care; Father Dallas Saint Peter; and Father Justin Baker, pastor of Christ the King Church in Burlington, for their comforting guidance. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6th , at Christ the King Church in Burlington.
