Garrett Stephan
Delary
Aug 1, 1990 — Jul 27, 2024
Garrett Stephan DeLary, 33 of Berlin, Vermont passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Born in Berlin, Vermont on August 1st, 1990 to Joel DeLary and Betsy Byrd, Garrett grew up in Northfield Vermont and went to school in Northfield. Garrett earned his diploma outside of school. He worked at the Elks Club, Lague, Inc and Country Club of Vermont in Waterbury. Most recently he worked retail for Champlain Farms.
Garrett was known for his kind heart, and had a contagious smile. He could strike up a conversation with anyone, and made friends very easily. He spent every spare moment with his son Dominyck, who he cherished. He loved fishing, especially at Bolton Dam and Nichols Pond. He loved swimming and was happy to swim in even the coldest water. He loved watching his stepson at Thunder Road, and would often help his stepson with his car. He had a knack for building, creating and playing chess. Animals would flock to him, and were attracted to his kind nature. He would help anyone with anything without hesitation.
Garrett grew up the middle child between two sisters. His older sister fondly remembers sitting in a Red Rider wagon and steering while Garrett pushed, tirelessly, for hours. "You push, I steer" became an inside joke between them for years afterward. He quickly bonded with his later-to-be step siblings when they all rallied together to slide down the hill between their homes in a turtle shell. Growing up he enjoyed family vacations at Nichols Pond, as well as Camp Tara and Camp Holly Cross. Thanksgiving was a cherished holiday by his large, blended family, but Garrett's favorite holiday was always Halloween (though we learned to love Christmas through his fiance Amanda). Garrett would watch 24 hours of The Christmas Story every year. He loved monster trucks, and shared this passion with his son.
Garrett is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Clovis and Phyllis DeLary, as well as his maternal grandparents Agnes and Fred Byrd, his paternal step-grandmother Dale Currier and his fiance's brother Shawn Waldie.
Garrett is survived by a large loving family including his son Dominyck and fiance Amanda Waldie, as well as his step sons Haidyn and Joey Pearce. His parents Joel and Trina DeLary and Betsy Byrd, his siblings Brittany DuPont, Jessica DeLary, Samantha Philbrook, Tanika Kawecki, Tamara Hallock, Troy and Dylan Currier and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including his niece Hailey DeLary, with whom he shared a special relationship.
Arrangements are in the care of Kingston Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held at the Kingston Funeral Home on Friday, August 9th from 5:00-7:00pm. A burial will take place at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
