Obituary

Essex Junction,VT/Barre, VT

Gary Anthony McDonald, 75, was called home by our Lord on March 19, 2024 to join his Mom, Dad, and siblings who were called before him.

Gary was born March 8, 1949 the son of the late Clifford and Yvonne (Provost) McDonald.

After losing his eyesight, Gary had to give up his apartment at Whitcomb Woods in Essex Junction which he loved and enjoyed for many years. For the last three years, Gary resided and was lovingly cared for at the Hill Street Group Home in Barre. He loved his caretakers and fellow residents like family and they loved him.

Gary leaves three sisters Janet Maring and Donna Amstein of Winooski, VT, and Betty Hammond of Ocean Isle Beach, NC; two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends, especially Danny Casman, and Bob. He was predeceased by four brothers Richard, Donald, Clayton, and Clement McDonald; four sisters Gertrude and Lorraine McDonald, Ruth Tromblay, and Joyce Fredette.

When our sister Joyce was still with us and able, she took Gary and his sisters out to eat every week. He so loved his family and enjoyed these outings very much. If you knew Gary, you loved him!

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 11, from 10am-11am with a service to follow at 11:00 am at LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski.
