Obituary

George F Crowley, 87 of Winooski passed away on January 28, 2026, at UVM Medical Center after a long struggle with heart failure. George was deeply devoted to his Catholic Faith, and said, "Thank you, Jesus, for sparing my soul."

He was born to Paul Sterling Crowley Sr. and Bertha Regina Dion Crowley. He graduated from Rice Memorial High School. George was 1 of 13 kids, all who have preceded him in death, except 2 brothers, Glenn and John.

He retired from IBM after 28 years and also from Army Reserve after 22 years of service.

George was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching sports such as Golf, Football, Hockey and Baseball. After retirement, he received a lifetime achievement award for his dedication to the Winooski Senior Center including the Meals on Wheels Program. Some of George's hobbies included daily walks to the corner store for a small black coffee and a $1 scratch ticket until his health hindered this activity.

George was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Melinda, who he always referred to as his guardian angel, his granddaughter Simone, and great-grandson Jaylyn.

He is survived by his children, Bruce (Sherry), Dennis, Christine (Michael), Patricia, Brenda and Leonard. He has 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

George would like to give thanks to the priests and sisters of St. Francis Xavier Parish; Sisters of Mercy; Sister of Mount St. Mary; to his fellow IBMers; to the Funeral Directors, and the Employees of Our Lady of Providence.
