Obituary

George L. Morin Sr. passed away peacefully at his home in Jericho, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday morning, December 8, 2024.

George was born in Derby Line, Vermont on June 16, 1941 his parents were Ferdinand and Alma Morin. He went to high school at Sacred Heart Catholic high school in Derby Line, graduated in 1960 as well as attended Champlain College. He married Jean E. (Viens) Morin on January 08, 1966 at the Cathedral in Burlington. He started as a Carpenter in 1957 working with his dad. He continued carpentry throughout his life building many homes in the Jericho area including his family home. George also owned his own business "Jericho Carpentry Shop Doors and Hardware" since 1987 where he installed doors and hardware throughout the state of Vermont. George was a devoted family man and a person of strong faith. He was a prominent member of St. Thomas Catholic Church for over 50 years. A gifted craftsman, George worked with his hands throughout his life creating and building many special gifts for his family. He also contributed to many projects at St. Thomas Church, including donating and installing the front doors.

He was a Veteran in the United States Army National Guard.

George is survived by his wife, Jean E. (Viens) Morin, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage, just one month shy of 59. He is also survived by his daughters Kimberly (and her husband Gene Steinfeld), with their children Samuel and Olivia; Kelly Morin, with her son Tyler Morin; Katherine (and her husband Grant Lewis Jr.), with her daughters Sarah and Emilee Barron; Kristine (and her husband Jack Jones), with their sons Malcolm and Marxus; Karen Morin, with her daughter Hanna Morin; and Martha (and her husband Frederic Najem), with their daughters Sahar, Joelle, and Nicole. His newest family member is his great-granddaughter Chloe Sprague (Whose Parents are Sarah Barron & James Sprague). George was also the godfather of his grandson Malcolm Jones. George was an uncle to several nieces and nephews.

George is preceded by his parents Ferdinand and Alma. His sisters Jeannie & Laurette and brother Maurice. His son George Morin Jr., and daughter Mary Morin.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to George's Oncologist Dr Rahul Anil and Dr. John Wax of the Palliative Care Division as well as the Home Hospice Care Team.

Visiting hours will be at Corbin & Palmer 9 Pleasant St. Essex Jct., Vermont on Friday, December 13, 2024 between the hours of 5:00pm – 7:00pm.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at St. Thomas Catholic Church 3 Green St. Underhill Ctr, Vermont. Reception to follow in the church basement immediately after the service.
