Henry Kopeck

December 9, 1941 – May 2, 2025

Henry Kopeck, 83, of Colchester, Vermont, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, in Burlington, Vermont, with his children by his side.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Henry was a dedicated educator who taught history and later served in public education administration as a business director and superintendent. He earned his EdD from Buffalo State University and believed deeply in the power of education to change lives.

He is survived by his daughter, Nicole Dell'Osso (Nick), and their children Matthew, Noah, and Isabella; his son, Steven Kopeck (Tonya); and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Gallick) Kopeck, and his parents, Henry and Mary Kopeck.

Henry was an avid reader, gardener, and photographer. He especially loved time spent with his grandchildren in Oklahoma and attending family reunions in Virginia and upstate New York. Henry was charismatic and quick-witted—comfortable cracking a joke or diving into long conversations about education, politics, or history.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, with burial to follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
