In Loving Memory of Jennifer Arnott

December 23, 1961 - April 30, 2025

Jennifer Louise (Ball) Arnott was born on December 23, 1961 in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts to Albert William Ball and Phyllis Louise (Opsahl) Carr Ball. She joined a blended family with sisters Marjory, Louise, Judy, Christine, Wallace, and Steven. Jen spent her early years in West Roxbury, Massachusetts and moved to Middlebury, Vermont at age 9. She graduated from Middlebury Union High School, attended Roger Williams University, and graduated from Trinity College in Burlington, Vermont. In 1989, she married John D. Arnott and together they raised their much-beloved children, Julian and Johanna. She taught in the U32 alternative school for several years, then worked as a paraeducator in the Richmond Elementary School, and was co-chair of the PTO.

Jen was a loyal, kind, generous, and caring mother, spouse, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a creative person who enjoyed knitting, quilting, and needle felting. She was an active member of the Richmond Congregational Church and was part of the Richmond community for nearly 30 years. Jen was happiest when she was near the ocean and those who loved her will always remember her fondly when they are by the sea.

Jennifer was predeceased by her parents Al and Phyllis, her grandmothers Olive and Alice, her aunts Jean Seeley, Alice Ball, and Elinor Aaron, her brother Stevie Carr, her sister Marjory Kendrick, her nieces Lynn and Ellen, her nephew RJ, and her father-in-law John.

She leaves to mourn her absence in their lives, her husband John, children Julian and Johanna (and her partner Ben). Also grieving are her sisters Christine Moseley (and her spouse Mike) and Judy Wells, brother Wally Carr (and his partner Frances), niece Olivia Moseley and nephews Wyatt and Emmet Moseley (and his spouse Coco), great-niece Louisa, mother-in-law Rita Arnott, sister-in-law Diana Berthiaume (and her spouse Vern), nephew Jack, and niece Katie. She will be dearly missed not only by her family, but by her friends–the "Breakfast Babes" and many others--who shared both joyful and hard times with her over the years.

For 9 years, Jen traveled with breast cancer, doing so with grace and courage, and with the support of her caring family, friends, and medical team. She died on April 30 at UVM Medical Center. A light has gone out of our lives and she will be missed more than we can say.

There will be a memorial service at Richmond Congregational Church on Saturday, May 3rd at 1pm with visiting hours after. Jen was a strong supporter of equal rights for all and reproductive justice. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in her memory to Planned Parenthood of Northern New England: https://tinyurl.com/jenarnott. Or you can make a donation to the Richmond Congregational Church Deacon Fund, which helps provide services to the community: https://secure.myvanco.com/L-Z70W/campaign/C-109EX.
