Obituary

Jerry "Zippy" Fisher, 84, of Ferrisburgh, passed away after a long and courageous battle with ALS on February 11th.

Born and raised in Shelburne, Jerry attended Shelburne Community School and built a life defined by hard work, laughter, and deep love for family and friends. Known to most as "Zippy," he truly was one of a kind.

Zippy was a man of many talents and ventures. Over the years, he owned two deli's, two restaurants and bars, screen printing, sold memorabilia at Thunder Road and Airborne Raceway, Catering and ran a construction business, his true passion in life. He could operate a backhoe or excavator like no other. If they had four wheels, chances are he was only on two, grinning from cheek to cheek while giving everyone a good scare. Some of the most treasured memories for his grandchildren were rides in the backhoe with Grampa Zippy at the controls.

He loved playing cards, camping, going to the racetrack and the casino, and most of all, simply being surrounded by family and friends. Zippy had a heart as big as his personality. He would give you the shirt off his back. His hugs, his kisses, and his unforgettable sense of humor were pure "Zippy fashion." He had a gift for making everyone feel special.

He was predeceased by his parents, Wesley and Laura "Mimi" Fisher; his first wife Jane Fisher; his brothers Robert (Clarice), Ronald, Roderick (Susie), Nick (Leo); and the love of his life, Jeanne Comeau, whom he now reunites with.

He is survived by his companion, Clara "Ziggy"; his brothers Roger (Lucille), Randy (Arlene); his sisters Patricia, Fay (Ronald), Donna (George); and his children Anne-Marie (Scott) Edwards, Jerry D (Teresa) Fisher, Ricky (Tracy) Fisher, Michael (Brandy) Fisher, Julie (Jason) Parrow-Fisher, Tammy and Tina Comeau, and Maria Fisher (Charlie). Zippy also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Tiffaney (Jeff), Steffaney (Matt), Brittaney (Sam), Whittaney (Matt), Ricky Jr. (Lauren), Jaylie, Jaylah, Scott Jr. (Heather), Amanda (Bodel), Jane (Dave), RJ, Betsey (Jay), JD (Ashley), Josh, Matty, Caleb, Faith (Ricky), Taaya (Matt), Calleigh, Michael Jr., Charlotte (Darin), CJ Tami, Megan, Kelley, Calvin, Alyssa, Jake, Corey, Austin, Brook, and Nicholas. He was blessed with many great grandchildren: James, Lillian, Savannah, Cody, Kelcie, Khloe, Cullen, Peyton, Ricko, Owen, Cole, Wesley, Remi, Audrey, Oakley, Ella, Oliver and Izzy, along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lance McKee, Nancy Hadley, Nurse Carrie James, Randy Machia, Alicia Fisher, Sue Archor, Jimmy and Jean Gay family, Marcotte family and all who supported Zippy during his illness.

Zip dog the legend will always be with us, sending signs and watching over the family and friends he loved so deeply. Rest easy Dad, we love you.
