Jewel Ann
Godin
Aug 4, 1939 — May 29, 2026
Jewel Ann Godin passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2026. She was a life-long resident of Morrisville, except for the last four years where she resided in Rutland with her granddaughter Bobbie, and also at The Pines Center for Nursing.
Jewel was born in Morrisville, Vermont on August 4, 1939, to David and Hortance (Kelty) Marshall. She attended Peoples Academy. On June 24, 1955, she married Robert Godin. Together, they had two daughters, Lois Doe and Diane Couture.
Jewel worked in hospitality at a variety of places. She especially enjoyed her time at the Gables Inn in Stowe, making several lifelong friendships there. Robert and Jewel purchased their first home in 1986, on the Randolph Road. They enjoyed spending their time with family and friends, until Robert passed in 1990.
Jewel loved the simple pleasures in life; she enjoyed gardening, singing, cooking, baking, knitting, crafting, and finding creative ways to be wonderfully resourceful in everything she did. Proving it's never too late for a new chapter, Jewel obtained her driver's license at the age of 53 and enjoyed traveling, particularly to Wells, Maine.
In 2002, Jewel met her partner, David Mayo Sr. David and Jewel traveled between Florida and Morrisville and shared many great memories with their friends at Shangri-La in Largo, Florida.
Jewel was a beautifully complex woman—strong-willed, independent, and devoted in her own unique way, she lived life on her own particular terms.
Jewel is survived by her granddaughters, Bobbie (Godin) Amerio, Bryanna Doe Singer, and Tara Audet. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Emmett Amerio and her grandson-in-law, Wendell Amerio. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert Godin; her partner, David Mayo Sr.; and her daughters, Lois Doe and Diane Couture.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Jewel's dedicated caregivers at The Pines at Rutland for the exceptional care and compassion they provided.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 11:00am at the Wolcott United Methodist Church.
