Obituary

Jill Marie Hunt

July 9, 1955 - September 8, 2026

Jill Marie Hunt, of Winooski, Vermont, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2026. She was born on July 9, 1955, in Burlington, Vermont, to Carlyle and Ruth Hunt, and grew up in Jericho. Jill graduated from Mount Mansfield Union High School and attended cosmetology school before owning and operating Salon 62 in Winooski. She cherished the relationships she built with her customers and the connections she made through her work. Health challenges eventually led her to retire.

Jill found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved nature and music, followed UVM basketball and soccer, cheered on the Celtics, and cherished time spent at the family farm, where even everyday chores were made more enjoyable by being together. She looked forward to summers at Georgia Shore, where she enjoyed beautiful sunsets, s'mores, and time spent with family and friends. She loved growing flowers, visiting with friends, and spending time with animals, especially her beloved cat, Stella. Aunt Jill had the most loving and comforting shoulder for her "little ones" to cuddle into—a place where they always felt safe, comfortable, and loved.

Family and the traditions they shared held a special place in Jill's heart. One of her favorite fall traditions was helping her Aunt Gert peel apples for her homemade apple pies—a simple ritual that brought them both happiness and created lasting memories. It was these everyday moments, shared with the people she loved, that Jill treasured most.

Jill is survived by her soul sister, Diana Poirier (Jim) of Champlain, NY; sister-in-law, Brenda Hunt of Colchester, VT; nieces, Michelle DiStiso of Winooski, VT, and Erica Hutchins (Ethan) of Williston, VT; nephew, Ryan Hunt (Liz) of Jericho, VT; great-nieces and great-nephews, Cassie, Peter, and David DiStiso, Emery and Emmett Hutchins, and Margaret and Wesley Hunt; sister, Lori (Tom) Cook of Arizona; and numerous other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Carlyle Hunt; sister, Sandi Menard; brother, Brian Hunt; brother-in-law, Ray Menard; aunt, Gertrude Hunt; and nephew, Jonathan DiStiso.

Jill's family would like to thank all of the healthcare workers who supported and cared for her over the years. Their knowledge, compassion, encouragement, and kindness were deeply appreciated.

She is now at peace and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Per Jill's request, there will be no public funeral arrangements.
