John J. Mattos, 92, of Essex Junction, VT passed away on March 27, 2024 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

John was born on February 25, 1932 in Burlington, VT The son of Peter and Mary Latwis Mattos. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School class of 1950.

He was one of the original IBM employees hired at the IBM facility in Essex Junction in 1957 and retired in the early 1990's . He loved to spend time at his summer camp on Lake Champlain with his dog Duke. He also loved to go fishing , gardening and socializing with his fellow neighbors.while at camp.

He is survived by many nieces , nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by parents and his brother.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church, 30 Lincoln Street in Essex Junction, at 10:00am Tuesday, April 2, 2024. A reception will follow at Holy Family Community Center (next door). Burial will be later this spring at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Vermont.
