Josef Warren Korejwa, beloved husband of Debbie (Etler) Korejwa, passed away on January 7, 2025 at the age of 70 In Charlotte, Vermont. Born in Bucyrus, Ohio on October 18, 1954, he was the son of Alfred and Jane (Hanba) Korejwa.
Josef was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family above all else and found immense joy in spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 50 years, Debbie Korejwa.
He is survived by his children: Sara Jane Korejwa Kazamias and her husband Michael of Plymouth, MA, Kaylin Ann Korejwa Leuze and her husband Gil of Newark, Delaware. He was the proud and active grandfather of 4 grandchildren: Lucas and Lexi Kazamias; Logan and Owen Leuze. His brother Jonstan F. Korejwa and wife Ronalee of Beaumont, Texas and his sister Carolyn Korejwa Shearer and husband Dwain of E. Canton, Ohio are heartbroken of the loss of their younger brother.
Josef was an Electrical Engineer for many years working for IBM in Vermont and later Global Foundries. His work involved some of the advanced chip processes in the industry and he was meticulous in his work. He was an avid instrument rated pilot, a wonder at fixing and improving anything with an engine and wheels. He loved to snorkel in Lake Champlain, Lake Wawasee Indiana and the Florida Keys.
Josef graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics, the NorthCentral Technical College in Mansfield, Ohio, and the University of Vermont with numerous engineering degrees. In the early 1970s he was recruited by IBM at the new plant in Vermont where he called home for 50 years. Josef loved Vermont.
Josef enjoyed Halloween and devised intricate costumes that he would compete in at an annual event in Saratoga Springs, NY. One year he took home the grand prize dressed as a gargoyle with operating wings!
Josef returned to Crestline every Fall for the Harvest Festival as a proud Bulldog football player. Josef came of age when Alice Cooper ruled the radio and he always had "Schools Out" playing in the background.
A celebration of life will be held by the family.
