Obituary

Julienne Clara Asselin, 90, of Northfield Falls, Vermont, passed away on June 3, 2025, after a period of illness.

Born Julienne Coulombe on November 2, 1934, in Biddeford, Maine, she was the daughter of Felix and Clara Coulombe. She was educated in Francophone Catholic schools in Biddeford and worked at Sabourin's Bakery during her early years.

In 1957, she married the late Gerard "Jerry" Adrien Asselin. While Jerry pursued his education at Gorham State Teachers' College, Julienne supported their growing family through her work at York Heel. In 1961, when Jerry began his teaching career, the couple moved to Scituate, Massachusetts. In 1967, they settled in Northfield Falls, Vermont, where Jerry served as principal of Northfield's elementary schools.

A devoted wife and mother, Julienne lovingly raised their five children. The family enjoyed weeklong summer camping trips and weekend visits to regional theme parks throughout New England—memories that her children still cherish.

Julienne was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Northfield and belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. As her children grew older, she returned to her education, earning her high school diploma through a state adult learning program in partnership with Northfield Jr.-Sr. High School. She also earned her driver's license and went on to work in food services at Norwich University; she later became a mailroom clerk at National Life Group.

In retirement, Julienne enjoyed traveling with Jerry on bus and train tours, dining regularly at the Wayside Restaurant in Berlin, and spending time with their beloved grandchildren. After Jerry's passing in 2013, following 56 years of blessed marriage, she continued to take regional road trips with her son Brian and found joy in the companionship of her dogs, especially her black Chihuahua, Molly.

Julienne is survived by her children:

· Roxane Boliver of Rutland and her fiancé, Louis Rousseau; granddaughters Emily Stacy and her husband, Jon, of Trinity, North Carolina (and their children, Addilyn and Conor), and Andrea Campbell of Barre;

· Deacon Mark Laurent Asselin of Bethesda, Maryland, his wife, Son Vuong; granddaughter, Sydney Asselin of Los Angeles;

· Jon W. Asselin of Jericho, his wife, Jean (Cilia) Asselin; grandsons, Patrick Aselin of Waltham, Massachusetts; Christopher Aselin of St. Augustine, Florida; and Jonathan Aselin of New London, Connecticut.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Juliette Coulombe of Trumbull, Connecticut, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
