June Thomas Magoon, 83, of Morrisville, Vermont, passed away on December 29, 2024, surrounded by loving family.
June was born on June 20, 1941 in Whitehall, New York, the first daughter of Pearl (Chapin) and Clyde Thomas. June played an important role as the eldest sister to Jane and Mary, helping to raise them as they grew up and played together.
June attended high school at People's Academy and held various positions at businesses in Morrisville and Stowe; she worked as a laundry attendant in a nursing home, a dishwasher at Hilary's Restaurant in Morrisville, and a counter attendant at Cumberland Farms.
June had nine children. She married Harold Magoon in February of 1992; they were married for 22 years.
June especially loved cats, reading, and the color purple. She enjoyed crocheting baby blankets to give away to family as well as knitting hats and mittens for donation. June frequently visited The Charlemont restaurant in Morrisville most mornings for breakfast. She was also a regular at her daughter-in-law, Amy's house for summer barbecues and Christmas gatherings.
Remaining to cherish June's memory are her children, Regina Touchette, Raymond and Donna Touchette, Richard and Nicky Touchette, Stephen Kelton and partner Elana Plenby, and Stephanie baker; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Jane Judkins and Mary Preston; and several nieces and nephews.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Magoon; children, Steven Hewitt, Donna Hewitt, Jonathan Hewitt, and Robin Touchette; granddaughter, Andrea Turner; and her mother and father.
A celebration of June's life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Second Congregational United Church of Christ in Hyde Park, VT, with Chaplain Danny Granstaff officiating and a reception to follow. A private burial will be held in the Spring.
