Kenneth Douglas
Tobin
Sep 9, 1933 — Mar 20, 2026
On March 20th, the world lost a good man, Kenneth Douglas Tobin. Ken passed away comfortably and peacefully at the age of 92, of natural causes at the UVM Medical Center.
Ken was born in Connecticut on September 9th, 1933. Although he was born in Connecticut, Ken spent most of his life in Vermont.
Ken was raised on his parent's dairy farm in Underhill, Vermont and learned the meaning of hard work at an early age. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting with his father, uncles, and cousin Jack. He also enjoyed rabbit hunting with his prized beagles, skiing, and playing his trumpet.
Ken excelled in his studies and after graduating from Cambridge High School was appointed to the US Military Academy at West Point. While attending West Point, he met "the love of his life" Carol (Klein) Tobin. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. He and Carol married and Ken went on to successfully complete Jump School and Flight School becoming an Army pilot.
Together, Ken and Carol raised five boys, Chris, Eric, Andy, Scott, and Paul. They made wonderful memories together as a family.
After serving his country for four years, Ken held many leadership and managerial roles for several companies over his career. He was also active and presided over many charitable organizations, including the Underhill/Jericho Jaycees.
Ken always had a positive attitude and good-natured spirit which he instilled in his boys. He will be missed.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Carol, his sons and their wives, Chris and Mary, Eric and Kathy, Andy and Pam, his daughter-in-laws, Karen Tobin and Susan Boardman. His sisters, Sally, Dorothy and Connie, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harlie and Evelyn, Sister Linda, and his beloved sons Scott and Paul along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a graveside service later in the Spring at the Mountain View Cemetery in Cambridge, VT, followed by a celebration of Life to be announced.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful nurses and staff at Birchwood Nursing Home for their love and care for Ken over the last 18 months. Also, to the doctors and nurses at the UVM Medical Center for their support and care in Ken's final days.
