Obituary

NORTHFIELD FALLS — Lauren L. Neun passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, February 3, 2025. Laurie was born on February 15, 1964, daughter of Gary Atwood and Karen (Seaver) Atwood, in Northfield, Vermont. She resided in Northfield Falls, Vermont.

Laurie was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her—funny, kind, and full of warmth. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Before multiple sclerosis changed her path, Laurie enjoyed playing high school sports, she particularly loved playing soccer. She attended Northfield Jr. Sr. High School, in Northfield, VT, and attended Vermont College of Norwich University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in early childhood education.

In March 1992, Laurie married Scott Neun, and together they made their home in Northfield Falls. They were inseparable—Scott was not only her husband but her best friend, protector, and devoted caregiver. Wherever Laurie went, Scott was always close by.

Laurie was a dedicated mother to her daughter, Mackenzie, who was her biggest advocate and close companion. The two shared cherished moments, making funny video clips, taking selfies, and experimenting with new hairstyles.

Laurie was a fan of old Westerns, especially Gunsmoke and Bonanza, and would happily watch them for hours. But perhaps nothing brought her as much joy as Christmas—so much so that any visitor to the Neun house could expect to see her Christmas tree up well past the holidays.

Laurie's life was one of love, humor, and unwavering devotion. Her memory will be carried on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Scott Neun, as well as her daughter Mackenzie Neun and Cody Laplante of Northfield Falls, VT, stepson Shawn Neun and Melissa of Roxbury, VT, grandchildren Ellie Moon Laplante of Northfield Falls, VT and Adler and Chance Neun of Roxbury, VT, her mother Karen Atwood of Northfield, VT, two sisters Nicole Cook and Christopher of Largo, FL and Michelle Atwood Bean and Dana of Northfield, VT, stepmother Lisa Atwood of Northfield, VT, three nephews Liam and Aidan Cook of Largo, FL and Camden Bean of Northfield, VT. Laurie was predeceased by her father Gary Atwood of Northfield, VT.

A memorial service will be held on Laurie's Birthday, February 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield, Vermont. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Central Vermont Home Health & Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, Vermont 05641-5369.
