Linda passed away, peacefully, in her Myrtle Beach, SC home on Feb 14 at the age of 81, with her husband of 50 years, Timothy Jones, at her bedside. She was the daughter of Millard and Ruth Vance of Rossmore, WV. Linda had four sisters and two brothers. Linda's two older siblings predeceased her.

Linda excelled at school and athletics. She graduated from Logan High School in 1962, and, in later years, earned a Bachelor degree from Marshall University and a Masters degree from Virginia Tech. Both degrees were in education. Linda taught health and physical education, as well as elementary grade levels, over the next 40 years, followed by her final ten years as a high school Special Needs teacher.

Linda married Tim in 1975. Tim is a descendant of one of the earliest settlers in Huntington. Together, they raised three sons, Dr. Benjamin Jones PhD, Joshua Jones, and Dr. Seth Jones PhD. In their later years, Linda & Tim helped raise a grandson, Jackson Jones, and a granddaughter, Lillian Jones.

Linda enjoyed genealogy, cooking, reading, sewing and travelling with Tim. She was an active, devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints following her conversion as a young adult.

Linda had a memorial service at the Myrtle Beach LDS Chapel on Feb 22. She will have a private, graveside service on June 16 at Maplewood Cemetery, Huntington, for family and friends.
