Obituary

Marcy A. LaFond, 54 of Winooski, was born December 6, 1971, in Burlington, Vermont, to Edna Aikey LaFond and the late Earl "Frank" LaFond Jr. She passed away surrounded by family and loved ones on August 28, 2026, at Massachusetts Geneal Hospital, following a lifelong illness. Even though Marcy was in a lot of pain, she never let anyone know it. She fought the fight and never gave up.

The love of her life was her horse Andy whom she would visit daily, go for trail rides with Karen, brush and braid his hair, taught her nieces to ride, and maintained his saddle even after he passed.

She enjoyed children, horses, cats, dogs and worked at daycares. She helped raise her nieces and nephews along with her great nieces too. Her sense of humor and great smile will be greatly missed.

She graduated from Winooski High School in 1990, she loved reading books, creating photo albums for her nieces and nephews, making annual family Christmas Ornaments, collecting porcelains dolls, Bryar horses and lighthouses. She was an avid sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, New England Patriots and Atlanta Braves.

She's survived by her mother Edna, brother Gary (Tracy) LaFond, sister Karen "Sissy" LaFond, brother Earl "Punky" LaFond (Holly), nieces and nephews: Kara (Christina) LaFond, Samantha (James) Rutherford, Tiffany (Teddy) Kenney, Curtis Sola, Bridgette (Darrin) LaFond, Sara (Jay) LaFond, Taylor (Lex) LaFond, Cameron (Riley) LaFond, great nieces Maria, Paisley, Bailey, Evelyn and soon to be born in December Scarlett, special friend Alena D'Aran and her cats Pepper, Cash & Jazzy. She also leaves behind Rosie her sitting buddy, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends at the Courtyard.

She was predeceased by her father Earl "Frank" LaFond Jr, nephew Tyler LaFond, uncle Eddy "Babe" Aikey, maternal grandparents Edward "Peanut" and Alberta Aikey, and great grandmother Mary LaForce.

The family would like to thank the staff at UVM Medical Center Baird 4 and Blake 12 ICU at Mass General for all of their support, hard work, and dedication for taking such great care of Marcy. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, VT 05403.
