Marie-Reine Pepin, 81, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
Marie-Reine graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1962 and married Bernard Pepin Jr., in 1965.
Throughout her life, Marie-Reine held a variety of jobs that reflected her love of people and her caring spirit. She worked at Stepping Stones kindergarten, at the Colchester Town Office, and served for many years as a Justice of the Peace for the Town of Colchester. She was also a dedicated and familiar face at Mazza's General Store, where her friendly smile and warm personality made everyone feel welcome.
A lifelong member of Holy Cross Parish, Marie-Reine was deeply involved in her church community, volunteering in countless ways and giving generously of her time and energy to help others. Her faith was a guiding light in her life and inspired her acts of kindness and compassion.
Marie-Reine will be remembered for her gentle heart, her generosity, and her unwavering kindness. She was always the first to lend a hand—whether by driving friends to appointments, supporting charities dear to her heart, or sending thoughtful cards and notes that brightened the days of those around her. She had a gift for making people feel loved and valued, and she touched the lives of many through simple acts of grace and goodness.
Marie-Reine was preceded in death by her parents, René and Blanche Sirois, her brother, Johnny Sirois, and her husband, Bernard. She is survived by her children: Susan McCarthy and husband Chris, Lisa Robtoy and husband Jay, and Michael Pepin and wife Rachel; by her grandchildren: Erin, Garrett and his wife Ashlee, Vince, and Alex; and by her siblings: Andrée Pilaro, Jeanne Brown, Therese Freeman, Zeann Vincent, Liane Sirois, Jacques Sirois, Larry Sirois, Marie Sirois, Suzi Sirois, Pierre Sirois and Claire Potvin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 6, at Holy Cross Church in Colchester with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will be held in the Holy Cross Parish Hall.
The family requests no flowers. For those who wish, contributions in Marie-Reine's memory can be made to Grady's Golden Goodness, 562 Metcalf Road, East Fairfield, VT 05448.
