South Burlington - Mary Z. Gover, 84, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones.

She was born on October 28, 1939 in Burlington, VT. She was the first born child of John and Anita (Chausse) Zola.

Mary graduated from Cathedral High School in 1957. She married Howard Alfred Gover (deceased 10/25/2010) on January 25, 1958 in the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception. Shortly after they started their family.

Mary is survived by her five children; daughter, Lynne Gavin and husband, John of Richmond; son, Michael Gover and wife, Jodi of Daytona, NV; son, David Gover and wife, Judy of Shelburne; son, Gregg Gover of St. Albans; and daughter, Jane Gover and husband, Eric Semelka of Wantagh, NY; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Jeanne Moquin and brother James Zola. Survived by her brother Thomas Zola and sister Trudy Zola Derucki.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10am at St. John Vianney, 160 Hinesburg Road in South Burlington. Visiting hours are from 4-7pm on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Junction.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. John Vianney Catholic Church or to UVM Home Health Hospice Center.
