Mary Louise was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to John Frederick Jones and Louise Crouse Jones. She grew up in the coal region of Pennsylvania eventually graduating from Nanticoke High School. Mary Lou went on to receive a bachelor's degree from the College of Health and Human Development at Pennsylvania State University in 1947, where she met her late husband, Samuel Burnett Harvey. Mary Lou and Sam were enthusiastic Penn State fans cheering on the the Nittany Lions throughout their lives.

After graduation, Mary Lou taught at Chestnut Hill Academy and loved teaching her class full of active boys. Sam and Mary Lou married March 26, 1949, and raised their two daughters in Haddonfield NJ. The family spent summers in Ocean City at their beach house. Mary Lou and Sam moved to Vermont later in life and enjoyed their years in the Green Mountain State, while spending time with their grandkids, dogs and eventually great-grandkids.

Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, traveling, reading, visiting historic sites, shopping and following sports on TV. She shared so many great stories about her life throughout the years. We will cherish those stories, and her love and support will live on in our hearts. One fond memory is that she always made a point to sing Happy Birthday to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on their special days. After her 99th birthday, "Ma" shared that looking back on 10 decades, "I had a good life", and we were lucky to be a part of it.

There will be a private family burial in May. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your favorite charity in her memory.
