Obituary

Maurice Valcour died peacefully with his family by his side on March 27th at McClure-Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont from pancreatic cancer.

Maurice graduated from People's Academy in 1987 then became an Automotive Technician and in 1989 obtained a National Institute Automotive Service Excellence Certification. Later in 1989 Maurice entered the United States Navy as a Submariner and was trained as an Electronic Engineering Technician.

After six years in the US Navy, Maurice became a member of the American Legion. In 1995, Maurice began working for Bio-Teck Instruments, now Agilent, in Colchester. This job turned into a career and Maurice worked his way up to Knowledge Engineer in the Manufacturing and Design Departments. Maurice was a quiet hard-working man and he valued precision and attention to details. His colleagues shared that he was a critical thinker and liked to swim in data. Moe, known only to his close friends, was part of a cohesive group and was a valued teammate. He was often referred to as a "Swiss Army Knife" because he had the ability to figure out the most complex of problems.

Through the US Navy and Bio-Teck, Maurice traveled the world. Some favored locations included Germany, Singapore, New Caledonia, and Taiwan. He enjoyed road trips and crossed the US many times. Maurice was a theater buff and enjoyed playing card games with friends and family. Maurice enjoyed spending hours in his friend Tim Hathaway's garage in Fairfax, working alongside Tim and his sons, rebuilding antique trucks.

Maurice is survived by his mother Cecile Valcour of Morrisville VT, his brother Guy Valcour, Sister-in-law Laura Valcour of Burr Ridge IL, niece Anna Valcour and her husband Braun Oldenkamp of Kentucky, nephew Georges Valcour of Dorchester MA and niece Simonne Valcour and her partner Zac Miller of Waterbury VT and sister Valerie Valcour and her partner Kevin Couture of Hyde Park VT, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of Maurice's life will be announced at a future date, later this spring. Arrangements are in the care of Lamoille Funeral Home.
