Meghan dealt with many challenges in her life, most of them medical. She faced EVERY challenge with strength, courage, and dignity. Her parents often commented that she was one of the strongest women they knew, as she bounced back from each challenge with her normal happy attitude. She was supported by many caring providers and caregivers; notably, Dr Greg Holmes, her Neurologist, who followed Meghan for over 35 years from Savannah, Georgia to UVMMC in Burlington, VT. The care and love she received allowed her to live her best life.
Despite not ever being able to speak or walk during life Meghan had many friends of all ages who enriched her life and whose lives she enriched.
Meghan loved the outdoors, music, her family and friends, being with her dogs: Ophelia, Riko & Zeus, a good book, and foot massages.
Meghan is lovingly remembered by her father and guardian Matthew J. Fitzgerald, stepmother Kathleen F. Fitzgerald and mother Lisa B. Fitzgerald; her siblings Molly K. Peet, Cameron M. Fitzgerald and his wife Julia, Kiernan J. Fitzgerald; her stepbrothers Patrick A. Lancaster & his parter Leah Cover, Connie F. Lancaster, her stepsister Brianna A.
