Obituary

Michel "Big Mike" Bolduc, 75, of Essex, Vermont passed suddenly and peacefully in his home in Essex on Friday, May 24th, 2024.

Born July 25th, 1948 to Florian Bolduc and Simone Rancourt in Stornoway, Quebec, Canada.

The eldest of six children, his parents instilled in him a hard work ethic, that honesty was important, and a handshake deal meant something. These ideals carried him through life. A lumberjack at the age of 13, Mike was no stranger to a hard day's work. In fact, it was a point of pride for him. He moved to the United States in the 1970's, jumping at an opportunity to learn the drywall trade. The fact that he didn't know English did not deter him. He learned to speak English with his work-mates and watching old Western movies - which he loved and enjoyed in his later years. He successfully mastered his new trade, which flourished as "Big Mike Drywall" for many years.

His travels led him to Vermont - the state he called home for over 40 years. In the early 1980's, he met the love of his life, Lynn Preavy Bolduc. They were married May 18th, 1984 and share two adult children, Shannon and Brad.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, and horseback riding. He spent many nights with friends and family around a campfire, singing songs and playing the spoons, the guitar, and the accordian. He had a passion for gardening, farming, and anything outdoors. He was a prankster - no opportunity to play a good natured practical joke was missed. He loved to tell a good joke, and was known to start a food fight on occasion.

He was a dear friend and brother to many. Always there with a helping hand, a big smile, a firm handshake and a bear hug when needed. Most of all, he loved to love and loved to laugh.

Mike is predeceased by his parents, Florian Bolduc & Simone Rancourt. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years Lynn P. Bolduc of Essex, daughter Shannon Bolduc and her partner Joseph Mongeur of Bolton, VT. Son Brad Bolduc of Essex and grand-pup Bruce. He leaves beloved brother Renald Bolduc and his wife Laurie Bolduc of So. Burlington, VT, Brother Gérard Bolduc and wife Colette Boulanger of Stornoway, Quebec, Canada, sister Carmelle Bolduc and husband Marc of Quebec, Canada. Sister Ghislaine "Chip" Bolduc and husband Laurier Dumas, and sister Francine Bolduc and husband Christian Boulanger, and many nieces and nephews.

Mike had relationships and friendships that spanned decades, which he cherished. Some that passed before him and have welcomed him home to rest, such as his best friend;Guy Boulet and Wanda Preavy, who thought of him as one of her own, and so many others that will gather and say their goodbyes.
