Obituary

Nancy van Gulden passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at 99 years old.

She was born in Trenton, New Jersey on January 6, 1925, to Miriam and Howard Brown. She attended the Buxton School in Massachusetts and later attended Godard College, where she met her husband Norman van Gulden, of Baltimore,Maryland. They were married on July 3rd, 1943. Norman and Nancy had 6 children by birth and went on to adopt 4 more. She loved children and loved families.

While she raised her family of 10 children, she was also the chief administrator in the summers at YMCA Camp Abnaki while simultaneously actively working with the "Room for one More" Adoption group. In her retirement years she worked as a Guide at the Shelburne Museum. Towards the end of her life, she enjoyed seeing and spending time with her family and friends.

She was an intelligent, loving, interesting, thoughtful, and caring woman with a very down to earth, no-nonsense view of people and the world. She spent much of her life in large group settings but was also a rather quiet and reserved woman who enjoyed reading.

Nancy is survived by her children, Stefanie, Holly, Kristin, Derek, Mark, Ken,Andrew, Joshua, and Michael, as well as her 20 grandchildren and 21 great grand children.

She is predeceased by her husband Norman, her daughter Nonda, and her grandson Tranh.

The service will be held at 1:00 pm., June 1st, in the HayLoft at "Artistree Community Art Center", 2095 Pomfret road, South Pomfret, VT. 05067
