Nelda Mary Miller, 101, of Essex Junction, VT died on August 26, 2024 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester, Vermont with family by her side.

She was born on June 28, 1923 in Burlington, Vermont, the daughter of James Carroll and Florence Hill Carroll. She grew up in Winooski and was married in St. Stevens Church to Albert Arthur Miller on August 11, 1941. In addition to raising 10 children, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nelda worked in the home health industry and was a caring companion to many elderly throughout her life. One of her favorite annual events was the family picnic at the Sandbar Park every August 11th for many years with many memories for her very large and loving family.

She is survived by her children, Marilyn Combs, Daniel Miller, Judith Forkel (Gus Forkel), Maureen Miller (Ted Bourgault), Patrick Miller (Lynn Miller), Flossie Miller (Gary LeBlanc) and Michael Miller. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jim Hatin, Kevin Hatin, Pam Clapp (Roger), Clarke Combs (Eun), Bill Combs (Kristi), Ed Combs (Anna), Sylvia Burritt (Jim), Tracie Hultgren, Daryl Miller, Stephen Houle (Nancy), Shane Houle, Eric Bessette, Josh Quintin (Tara Bessette), David Bell (Paul Jennings), Denise Hollinger (Matthew), Katie Bell (Eric Jones), and Emily Gang (Travis), 19 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Albert Arthur Miller (1998) and all of her siblings; Wanda Preavy, Clement Carroll, Wesley Carroll, Maureen Smee and Joan LaCourse, daughter Nancy Miller, son Bernard Miller, daughter Susan Houle, grandson Chad Bessette and granddaughter Rebecca LeBlanc.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski, Vermont with interment following in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
