Norman Wilfred
Desso
Oct 25, 1938 — Mar 16, 2026
Norman Wilfred Desso, 87, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was born on October 25, 1938, and lived a full and meaningful life marked by service, resilience, and deep personal connections.
Norman proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, enlisting on January 4, 1961. He dedicated six years to military service before honorably separating on January 3, 1967. His time in the Air Force was a source of great pride and helped shape the man so many came to respect and love.
On May 20, 1967, Norman married the love of his life, Dorothy Pecor. Together, they built a life centered on family, loyalty, and enduring love. Dorothy preceded him in death on December 11, 2015, but their bond remained a defining part of his life. Years later, Norman found companionship again and began a beautiful new chapter with his soulmate, Nancy Tracy, on August 25, 2019.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Desso and Mildred (Vien) Desso, as well as his sisters Joyce Costello, Elaine Marshal, and Ruth McMahon.
He is lovingly survived by his siblings Claire Whitaker; Jacqueline Whittaker and her husband, Tommy Whittaker; Leo Desso; and Leonard Desso and his wife, Cindy Desso; his children, Robert Desso and his wife, Sharon Desso, and Robin Kane. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Thomas Lemire, Kyle Desso, and Tia Kane, who brought him immense pride and joy. He is also survived by Nancy's family, whom he embraced as his own: her daughter Lorie and her husband, Richard Lamarche; her two sons, Dick Tracy and Bob Tracy.
Norman was a man of simple pleasures and big personality. A true "snow bird," he split his time between Vermont and Florida, enjoying the best of both worlds throughout the year. He could often be found enjoying a good cup of coffee, working on puzzles, fishing, or trying his luck at the casino. He loved bingo nights, watching game shows, and had a special appreciation for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and red pickup trucks. Above all, he valued quality time with his family and friends, creating memories filled with humor and warmth.
A graveside burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Essex, Vermont on July 17, 2026 (time to be determined). A celebration of life will be held at the Eagles Club in Milton, Vermont on July 18, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Norman's life.
Norman will be remembered for his strong spirit, his sense of humor, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
