Obituary

Paul Edward Beattie, 106, of Hyde Park, Vermont, passed away peacefully at his home in Hyde Park surrounded by his family. Paul was born and raised in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Grand Junction, CO to Jessie Francis Beattie and Bernice Ferguson Beattie. In his lifetime, Paul survived two world wars and two pandemics. In the late 40's, Paul moved to Los Angeles, CA where he met and married the love of his life, Marie Beattie (deceased 1983). Paul and Marie eventually moved to Fullerton, CA where they raised their family. For most of his professional life, Paul was an executive in the aircraft manufacturing industry traveling the globe negotiating private and government contracts with the US and foreign governments. Paul and Marie moved to Montreal, Canada in the mid 70's where Paul was president of Menasco Manufacturing until his retirement in 1985. In 1986, Paul married Elizabeth Grant (deceased 2009) and finally settled in Hyde Park where he became very active in the Second Congregational Church of Hyde Park where he met and enjoyed many close friends for the rest of his life.

Paul was a gentle man who was kind to everyone he knew. He loved to tell stories about "the olden days" as well as his many business experiences. He always enjoyed hearing about the successes of others. Paul was an excellent listener, a respected advisor and a valued friend and confidante to many. Most of all, he was a patient and loving father and a devoted husband.

Paul is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jeff Beattie and Susan Beattie of Hyde Park, daughter Mary Beattie of Hyde Park, stepson Jim Grant (Vicki) of Ft. Meyers, FL and step daughter Elizabeth Grant (Steve) of Ft. Meyers, FL. Paul is also survived by his grandchildren, Maria Beattie, Jameson Beattie, Paul Beattie, Angela Scott, Joe Scott, Steven Scott, Ann Marie Lockamy, Heather Grant-Parker, Steffan Grant-Homyak, Colby Grant, Tucker Grant, Jonathan Rome, Andrew Rome, William Norten and Chloe Norten as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by his sister Frances Beattie, sister Evelyn Swope, stepdaughter Kathleen Scott (Harold), stepson Jeff Grant and grandson Daniel Rome.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring on Saturday, March 29 at 11:00am at the Second Congregational Church of Hyde Park.
