Obituary

Pauline Marie Bushey, 89 of Winooski, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2025.

Pauline was born in Burlington, VT to Joseph Dominique Adelard and Rose Alma (Giroux) Dion on August 21, 1935. Pauline was the beloved wife of 68 years to Richard P. Bushey and devoted mother to her son Randy and daughter Karen (Kendrick Brown). In addition, she is also survived by her brother Norman (Mary) Dion; granddaughter Jessica Ross Bushey and great-grandchildren Jason Sylvester and Adora Dierich; Sister in-laws Carol Hayden and Eleanor Bordeau; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Pauline was predeceased by her parents Joseph Dominique Adelard Dion and Rose Alma Giroux. Her brothers Armand (Pauline), Lionel (Dora), Alfred (Esterlene), John and Michael (Mary Ellen) Dion; and sisters Rose (Francis) Lavigne, Yvonne (Armand) Soutiere and Germaine (Armand) Roy and brother-in-laws Robert Hayden and Gerald Bordeau.

Pauline was proud of her nursing degree and the short time spent working for Dr. Louis Thabault before turning her attention to the family business alongside her husband until they retired.

Pauline had a spirited personality and a passionate zest for life that was hard to miss. She had a well-known passion for gambling—never turning down a night at the bingo, poker game or a trip to the casino. Whether it was luck or pure determination, she always seemed to come out a winner. She also had a true gift for cooking and entertaining - she made sure everyone felt welcome in her home! When you visited Pauline, she'd always have your favorite food ready—just one of the many ways she showed her love. She was deeply committed to her faith and community, and generously gave her time fundraising for St. Francis Xavier Church and School coordinating volunteer efforts for the Bishop's Fund and organizing Calcutta give-a-ways for Rice Memorial High School. She was an avid Red Sox fan, loved the weekends at Fenway and special memories made.

Her warmth, sense of humor, and feisty nature will be missed by all who knew her. She shared a close and cherished bond with her nieces Mary Ellen, Laurie and Dianne, who brought her great joy throughout her life. Pauline turned friends into family and among the many friends June, Brian and Andrea held an especially meaningful place in her heart.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Pauline's life. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier.
