Obituary

Pauline Dumas O'Brien, 91, of Williston, VT was called home by God and now rests in peace. She passed peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 206 at McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester.

Pauline was born on January 16, 1935, at the family farm in So. Burlington. She was the daughter of Mose and Hildred (Broadwell) Dumas. She attended So. Burlington schools and graduated from Cathedral High School.

In 1951, she married Gordon "Bud" O'Brien, with whom she shared many loving years and raised four children: Kim O'Brien Corley (Mike Corley), Kevin O'Brien (Caroline), Sean O'Brien, and Colleen O'Brien Matte (Paul Matte). Gordon "Bud" O'Brien predeceased her in 1990.

Pauline discovered a passion for hospitality and later went on to own and operate two small motels with her husband Bud. Pauline took great pride in her work, creating welcoming space for travelers and building lasting relationships with guests who often returned year after year. Her motels were known not only for their cleanliness and charm, but for the warmth and kindness she and Bud extended to everyone who walked through her doors.

Above all, Pauline's greatest devotion was to her family, especially her beloved son, Sean. With unwavering strength and love, she dedicated her life to his care, ensuring he had every opportunity for comfort, dignity, and happiness.

She is survived by many grandchildren, Liza deTuro, Alice Cassano, Emily Corley, Justin O'Brien, and Travis Matte. Pauline will be sorely missed by her sister and best friend, Beatrice Carroll of South Hero.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to McClure Miller Respite House, 3113 Roosevelt Hwy., Colchester, VT 05446, and Box of LOVE, Knights of Columbus, 438 Church Rd., Colchester, VT 05446.

A Graveside service will be held at Resurrection Park Cemetery in So. Burlington on Wednesday, July 15, at 11:00am.
