Ramonia (Crosier) Allaire, age 96, of Hyde Park, Vermont passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 at Union House Nursing Home in Glover, Vermont, where she had resided for the last ten months of her life.
Ramonia was born September 24, 1928 in Glover, Vermont, the daughter of John A. and Mary Aileen (Deos) Crosier. While growing up, she lived with her uncle and aunt, Eli and Lula (Crosier) Lamoray in Craftsbury, Vermont, and had many fond memories of life on the farm. She attended schools in Craftsbury and later in Hyde Park, after the family moved from Craftsbury. She graduated from Lamoille Central Academy in Hyde Park.
On June 26, 1948, Ramonia married Donald E. Allaire at St. Teresa's rectory in Hyde Park, and had shared 67 years of marriage at the time of his death on December 8, 2015. Ramonia and Donald lived all of their married life in Hyde Park with the exception of six months in South Royalton. While in Hyde Park they made many friends in the community over the years.
Ramonia will be remembered for her strength, hard work, dedication, caring spirit, generosity and the immense love she had for her family. From an early age, Ramonia developed a love of music and dancing that she carried with her throughout her lifetime. She was an excellent knitter and also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends.
Ramonia was a caregiver for her aunt and uncle for over 34 years while raising her own family and working outside the home. She was employed as a waitress at Paine's Restaurant in Morrisville, as an Avon representative in Lamoille County and as a housekeeper for the Schoff family for many years until her retirement.
Ramonia is survived by her daughter, Gisele Hodgdon and husband, Terry of Montpelier and son, Brent Allaire of Morrisville; grandsons, Ian Hodgdon and Jeremy Allaire and his wife, Samantha; great-granddaughter, Abigail Allaire and great-grandson, Landon Allaire; brothers-in law, Merle Jones, Norman Allaire, Levi Allaire and Raymond Allaire; sister-in-law, Rachel Towers and husband, Ralph. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by siblings Euca Hubbard, John A. Crosier, III, Evelyn Jones, Estela Crosier, William Crosier, Marilyn Guyer and Yvonne Jacques; sister-in law Lea Daily and brothers-in-law Philip Allaire and Marcel Allaire.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Perkins-Parker Funeral Home, 48 South Main St., Waterbury, Vermont, with a memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Spring at Jedediah Hyde Cemetery in Hyde Park, Vermont on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ramonia's name to Lamoille Home Health and Hospice, 54 Farr Avenue, Morrisville, Vermont or online at www.lhha.org.
