Raymond Elwin Eastman

Raymond E. Eastman, 94, passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. He was born in Moretown on December 3, 1930. He was the son of the late Elwin and Rose (Boyce) Eastman.
He attended the Rock Bridge School in Moretown and Waterbury High School. As a young man, he joined the Army National Guard, and served 20 years and 11 months, he was deployed to Germany in October 1951 and returned in June 1952. He worked for the Pilgrim Plywood Company and the Demerritt Canning Company, both of Waterbury. He retired in 1998 from Vermont Plastic INC. in Montpelier.
He was a longtime and faithful member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Waterbury, the Citizen Band Radio Club of Central Vermont, Green Mountain Roamers Snowmobile Club of Waterbury, Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST), Worcester Rangers Snowmobile Club, A life member of the Harry N. Cutting American Legion Post # 59 of Waterbury, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 10034 of Waterbury, and a member of the Waterbury Area Senior Center.
His hobbies included water skiing, motorcycling, snowmobiling, camping, hunting, taking long trips, bowling, playing cards and dominoes. He also called Bingo at the Waterbury Area Senior Center.
He is survived by his brother-in-law Cedric Utton of Moretown, 3 nieces, 2 nephews 5 great nephews, and 4 great nieces, as well as extended family. He is predeceased by a sister Helen R. Utton, 2 great nephews Xavier Belval and Dylan Baker.
A celebration of the life of Raymond E. Eastman will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Waterbury, with a reception to follow, for those who wish memorial contributions can be sent to Wesley United Methodist Church, PO Box 214 Waterbury, VT 05676.
