Richard Frederick
Keil
Jun 24, 1944 — Dec 8, 2022
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard F. Keil, formerly of Germantown, NY, on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at the McClure-Miller Respite House in Colchester surrounded by the love of his family.
He was born on June 24, 1944 in Hudson, NY to Frederick and Laura (Moore) Keil. On September 15, 1964, Richard married Nancy Simpson in North Carolina. They made many happy memories in their 57 years of marriage. In 1966 Richard graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute (RPI) in Troy, NY with a degree in Electrical Engineering and member of PHI KAPPA TAU fraternity. After graduation he went to work for Philco Ford in Doylestown, PA for 2 years and then joined IBM at their Fishkill, NY facility then in Manassas, VA, and finally in Essex Jct., VT . He held various management positions and most recently Project Manager of ASIC Circuit Design. He retired in 2008 after 42 years of dedicated service.
Richard was an avid sportsman, enjoying tennis, golf, boating, and fishing. He was a ham radio operator, and a woodworker, making many pieces cherished by his family. Richard's greatest joy was spending time with his family, taking trips to go see baseball games across the country with his grandchildren and playing 500 with anyone who was up for a game. He also loved poker with his work buddies and golf with his friends throughout the years. Masa and Ann Hayashi were good friends who were part of the family and shared many memorable adventures with us.
Richard was a wonderful loving husband, father and friend. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Nancy; daughter Stephanie "Keil" Fay and husband Jim Fay of Freeport, ME; son Richard Keil, Jr. and wife Jennifer "Carter" Keil of Charlotte, NC; and grandchildren Jason and Ashley Fay and their son Nathan of Newbury, NH, Alisa "Fay" and Jim Siulinski and their son Owen of North Yarmouth, ME, and Jacob Fay and fiancé Justine Tibbits of Manchester, NH. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Laura Keil.
