Robert Thompson, 87, of Hinesburg, passed away on October 1st at his home surrounded by loving family and friends.
Robert was born in Enosburg, VT to Ward and Marjorie (Murphy) on October 9th, 1936. He worked as a welder for Blodgett Ovens for 38 years; during that time he also did mechanic work and other jobs. He enjoyed helping on his uncle's farm as well. He loved hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycles, and birds. He loved lawn sales. He also loved to tinker with lawnmowers. Enjoyed talking on his CB radios and listening to his scanners. He enjoyed sitting on his front porch and waving to the cars going by. He moved to Hinesburg in 1969 where he raised his family. He shopped at Lantmans IGA just about every day for the past 55 years. He was well-known in the town. He was loved dearly by all of his family, friends, and spouse.
He married his first wife Shirley M Francis on June 29th, 1957. Shirley passed away on July 7th, 1987. They had the following children: Robert S Thompson (died 02/19/2020), Jacqueline + Leo Steady (died 04/29/2021), Patrick + Carina Thompson, Brenda + Melin Prim, Trena + Mark King, and Randall Thompson. Robert married his second wife Phyllis St. Amour on August 7th, 1993, in Hinesburg, VT. Phyllis already had the following children: Cecil + Yolanda Sweeney (8/7/2022), Bobby + Sue Sweeney, Charlie + Pat Sweeney, Lisa Sweeney + Dave Forkas, Laura + Buzz Sumner, and Joe Sweeney.
Robert is also preceded in death by his parents Ward and Marjorie, brothers Bill, Jon, and Richard, and his sister Betty Deso. He is also survived by his brother Dwight Thompson, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
We want to give a big thank you to his loving neighbors Cathy & pat. They helped him out a lot. And remember John Lyman.
