Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and Pépé, Roland G. Bouchard of Bradenton, FL., who passed away peacefully on April 5, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice House.

He was born on January 19, 1928, and was the son of Clement Bouchard, Sr. and Irene (Blondin) Bouchard of Winooski, VT. In 1946 he enlisted in the Air Force for three years with honorable discharge in 1949.

Roland met Mona on a motorcycle ride. Roland married his sweetheart, Ramona Chaffee on September 2, 1950, with a lifelong commitment, a love which is never ending. They were together for seventy-two treasured years! They enjoyed a very full life together with many of their family and friends. They traveled together to Hawaii, Florida, and many casinos!

He worked for Fassett's Bakery and then was hired at GE. He retired from General Electric after over 38 years of service as a supervisor in R&D. He worked with many wonderful people who became close friends. They spent many years in Florida in the winter and returned home to Georgia, VT, and their camp in Alburgh, VT on beautiful Lake Champlain! They enjoyed their camp with family and friends for 41 years!

Dad loved spending time with his adult children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as many very special friends over the years. He also loved to play shuffleboard, pool, cards, and enjoyed fishing and hunting as well.

Roland is survived by his son Raymond (Deborah) Bouchard, daughter Dianna (Peter) Dion, and daughter Debbie (Jeff) Smail. His grandchildren, James (Michelle) Dion, Jason Dion, Jeremy (Sara) Smail and Danielle (Keith) Gingue; great-grandchildren, Lily and Christian Dion, Anthony Dion, Jackson and Lincoln Smail, Mason and Bennett Gingue; his brother, Clement Bouchard, Jr., sister-in-law, Eleanor Sweeney, brother-in-law, Wade Chaffee and partner Diane Bettis, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents, Roland was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mona; his grandson Jared Dion; his siblings, Ernie (Theresa) Bouchard, Doris (Bob) Hawley; his in-laws, Mary Bouchard, Agnes and Durrell Stancliffe, Doris and Lawrence Stancliffe, Barbara and Harold Bowen, Raymond and Barbara Chaffee, Ethel and Charlie Cookson, Marilyn Chaffee, and Newton Sweeney.

We would like to thank the staff of Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, FL. We know that Dad and Mom are dancing in heaven, having a drink, playing cards, and riding on that motorcycle!
