Sally M. Adkins, 83, of Essex Junction passed away on April 12. Sally was born in Groveton, NH on April 10, 1943, the daughter of Frederick and Florida (Benoit) McMahon. Sally grew up in Groveton, NH and Richmond, VA. Sally married William (Bill) Adkins on June 24, 1961, in Washington, DC. Sally relocated to Vermont in 1967 when her husband Bill accepted a position with the General Electric Company and Vermont became her home.
Sally enjoyed playing Scrabble whenever she could, doing word searches, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, along with her other favorite shows. Sally also liked to watch a good horror movie, which were her favorites. Sally was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Sally enjoyed spending time with friends and family. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured time with them. When talking with Sally, she never failed to mention her grandchildren and how proud she was.
Sally was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill, her son-in-law Gary Colburn, her sister Pauline Sorenson, her sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Hugh Fitzgerald and her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Joan McMahon. Sally is survived by her two children, her daughter Jill Colburn of Stafford, Virginia and her son James (Jim) Adkins of Lincoln, Vermont. Sally also has three grandchildren, Shane, Sydney and Luke Adkins.
Sally is also survived by extended family, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly.
Visiting hours will be on Monday, April 20 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant Street, Essex Junction.
A funeral will be held at St. Lawrence Church, West Street, Essex Junction on Tuesday, April 21 at 11:00 a.m.
