Sara C.
Nevin
Mar 1, 1938 — Aug 24, 2026
Sara Ann Conlon Nevin, 88, of Northfield, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, peacefully and with family by her side at her home on West Hill in Northfield.
Sara was born in Torrington, CT to Francis and Faith Conlon on March 1, 1938. She graduated from Torrington High School, Hartford Secretarial School, and Norwich University. Her love of children and care towards others led her to establish Good Beginnings of Central Vermont, a non-profit that supports expectant and birth mothers and their families with training and vital necessities. Sara served as the director of Good Beginnings for three decades all while raising five sons and fostering many other children. The countless number of new parents that Sara and the organization supported allowed families in the central Vermont communities to thrive.
Sara was also an avid writer, painter and gardener, was active in the Catholic church and loved all things in nature, especially the birds around her home.
Sara was preceded in death by siblings Brian Conlon and Melinda Hoffman. Sara is survived by sons: David (Stephanie), Peter (Katie), Joel, Jacob (Laura), and Josef as well as sisters Mary, Rebecca and Deborah. Sara is also survived by 9 grandchildren.
The family of Sara wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr Anil, all the nurses and personnel at CVMC, who took special care of her over the past several years. In addition, we would like to thank the hospice team especially Miss Sharon and Miss Stacey for their special care in her final month. Amazing care was also provided by the Cornerstone Caregiving team including Diane, Rachel and Kami.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. at Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Northfield with a burial immediately following in Mount Hope Cemetery. A reception will be held after the services. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to Good Beginnings of Central Vermont, www.goodbeginningscentralvt.org/donate or click "Donate Now" under the donations tab below.
