BURLINGTON – Shawn Michael Reed, 60, of Burlington passed away at the University of Vermont Medical Center on May 27, 2025 after a brave battle with lung cancer.

He was born in Burlington on May 18, 1965. The son of Larry and Jeannine (Giroux) Reed.

Shawn was a long-time resident of Burlington who had a lifelong passion for the outdoors, particularly fishing. Shawn was a kind and generous soul who cared for all that he crossed paths with, especially those less fortunate than himself. He had great love for all of his family and friends. Shawn will be truly missed by those who knew him.

Shawn is survived by his mother Jeannine Reed of Colchester, his sister Shelly O'Brien and her husband Peter of Colchester, his brother Scott Reed and his wife Laura of Fairfield, as well as his nieces, nephews and many cousins.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and doctors who cared for Shawn at the University of Vermont Medical Center. A particular thanks to nurse Cathy Bean from Howard Mental Health who cared for Shawn over the years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11th at St. Francis Xavier Church in Winooski. Following Mass, Shawn's interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colchester.
